I am in Boston for a few days after a most wonderful 9 weeks on board Holland America Prinsendam, I loved the ship and everything about her, from her highly competent Captain to her gracious public rooms, to the inviting Lido Restaurant where we had almost all our meals including dinner (at the civilized hour of 7pm) to the Java Bar with Chris, Jovanand Girley, our wonderful bar staff. The Half Moon room proved a splendid card room and we had 8 or 9 tables everey afternoon for our duplicate games.
We visited 32 ports during this Grand Voyage and our eyes were opened to history's atrocities in places llike Odessa (the Potemkin Massacre) and Tirana, Albania where we saw the Room of Martyrs, people who experienced some of the worst torture known to man.
We enjoyed overnight stays in magnificent cities, Venice, Istanbul, Barcelona to name a few.
I highly recommend the ship and this type of Grand Voyage. However, next time I want to go as a Guest - they all had an amazing time and didn't have to work on sea-days.

I'm in Boston visiting family for a few days, having just returned from an amazing two weeks on a luxury yacht crossing the Indian Ocean. I taught bridge every morning and each afternoon the guests played pre-dealt hands illustrating the topics covered in the morning class. I think I created a few new bridge addicts.
Now I am focussing on my next cruise, Prinsendam for two months, round-trip out of Fort Lauderdale. There will be lots of bridge as we cross the Atlantic and then lots of ports all through the Mediterranean. Finally, a comletely new set of lessons as we recross the ocean and arrive back home in sunny Florida in May.
